Yesterday we saw an example of the real benefits of having batteries at a self-consumption facility.
The SRAD (Active Demand Response Service) was activated—a voluntary mechanism for balancing the electrical grid that triggers when it detects that generation will not be able to meet demand. In exchange for compensation, participating large consumers reduce their consumption on demand.
An example of participation in this service is shown at one of our self-consumption facilities (photovoltaic generation and batteries). The SRAD was activated at the plant for less than two hours.
Our EMS ensured that the plant’s consumption was not affected and that it could operate normally, transmitting the need to reduce consumption to the batteries, which fully compensated for this drop in grid consumption.
Cumulative revenue from this service during the second half of the year:
• Availability payment: 42.62 €/MW/h, for a total of 100,485 €/MW over the entire half-year
• Payment for activation on July 15: an average of 195 €/MWh for this facility
This is, in essence, what we aim to achieve with our solution: ensuring that participating in these markets is not an operational risk but rather an additional source of revenue
