The 17th Gijón Impulsa Gijón City Council Gijón Impulsa Awards have been awarded.

ENFASYS has won the Impulsa Gijón 2021 award for the best green economy company.

Today the Jury of the 17th edition of the Gijón Impulsa Awards of the Gijón City Council met to evaluate the candidatures presented in the 6 categories proposed in the call, and the following were awarded prizes:

  • Category: Best Company of the Knowledge Mile Margarita Salas

Prize: PIXELSHUB S.L

The Jury highlighted this initiative for being a knowledge-intensive technology company, created as a spin-off of the University of Oviedo, which has become a benchmark in the development of virtual, augmented and mixed reality projects and applications for data visualisation from the innovative ecosystem that hosts the Milla del Conocimiento. Made up of a committed team with multidisciplinary profiles, it has a high capacity to provide solutions and a high potential for growth in both the national and international markets.

  • Category: Best Cultural and Creative Company

Prize: MESTIZO UNIVERSAL S.L.

The jury singled out this initiative for being a creative and innovative company that is committed to making the cultural industry visible and giving it value as a clear element of economic and social development. Made up of a team of promoters specialised in offering production, artistic management and communication services, it has accumulated innumerable experiences, which has allowed it to grow in different directions, supporting and committing itself not only to music but also to any of the other artistic expressions that make up cultural activity.

Prize: TABLAS SURF COMPANY S.L.

The jury has decided to give this award to this initiative that has managed to become a reference in the world of surfing and sliding sports on the sea, constituted by a second generation that starts from the initial family business. Their vision and innovative capacity has led them to become the largest online surf shop in Spain, with a firm commitment to investment in technology and digital channels, creating their own brand of surfboards through which they market their designs from Gijón to customers all over the world.

Prize: ENFASYS S.L.

The jury highlighted this initiative for being a technology-based company, spin off of the University of Oviedo, which develops control solutions in the field of efficient management of energy flows, storage and self-consumption in electricity distribution electrical grids. The promoter team, committed to sustainability and efficiency, has a strong technical profile and experience in innovation and research, with a scalable business model and a high capacity for national and international expansion.

Honourable Mention: Ms. YOLANDA TRABANCO

The jury decided to award this prize to Yolanda Trabanco, sales, marketing and communication director of Sidra Trabanco and director of the Casa Trabanco restaurant and Eventos Trabanco, for her tenacity and dedication to the family business, being part of the fourth generation. From her position of responsibility, she has contributed to the preservation of the family legacy by investing in innovation, diversification and new technologies to adapt to modern times without losing the essence of tradition, managing to expand the product catalogue, reach other audiences and open up new markets both nationally and internationally.

Honourable Mention: SISTEMAS ESPECIALES DE METALIZACIÓN S.A.

The jury has decided to award this recognition to this company for its outstanding trajectory in the industrial sector of our city. From its beginnings in 1956 in a workshop in Veriña with a small group of workers, it has achieved continuous and sustainable growth and now has 9 work centres in 3 autonomous communities and a staff of more than 130 people employed full time and on a stable basis. A benchmark in the coatings and surface treatments sector, it is a company in constant evolution that has made quality, innovation and continuous improvement its main hallmarks.

Since 2005, when the 1st edition of these awards was held, Gijón City Council has been committed to holding this annual event, with the aim of promoting and stimulating the development of entrepreneurial culture, as well as fostering the creation of positive attitudes towards entrepreneurship, by recognising the entrepreneurial companies and individuals who have excelled in different fields of action, rewarding and disseminating the entrepreneurial talent present in the city. Throughout these editions, more than 100 companies and business projects have received awards and more than 700 nominations.

We would like to thank, once again, all the candidates for their support, year after year, for these traditional awards among the city's business community, and congratulate the winning companies and entrepreneurs in each category, for the excellent level of representation achieved.

The awards ceremony will take place on 21 December at 7 p.m. at the Teatro de la Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura.
