Winners Announced for the 17th Gijón Impulsa Awards, Sponsored by the City of Gijón.
ENFASYS has won the 2021 Impulsa Gijón Award for Best Company in the Green Economy.
Today, the jury for the17th edition of the Gijón Impulsa Awards, organized by the City of Gijón, met to evaluate the nominations submitted in the six categories listed in the call for entries. The following were selected as winners:
- Category: Best Company in the "Milla del Conocimiento" Program—Margarita Salas
Award: PIXELSHUB S.L.
The jury highlighted this initiative as a knowledge-intensive technology company, founded as a spin-off from the University of Oviedo, that has become a leader in the development of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality projects and applications for data visualization within the innovative ecosystem of the Milla del Conocimiento. Composed of a dedicated team with multidisciplinary backgrounds, the company demonstrates a strong ability to deliver solutions and significant growth potential in both the domestic and international markets.

Award: MESTIZO UNIVERSAL S.L.
The jury highlighted this initiative as a creative and innovative company committed to raising the profile of and promoting the cultural industry as a key driver of economic and social development. Composed of a team of professionals specializing in production, artistic management, and communications, the company has accumulated a wealth of experience, which has allowed it to grow in different directions, supporting and committing itself not only to music but also to all other artistic expressions that make up cultural activity.

Award: TABLAS SURF COMPANY S.L.
The jury has decided to award this prize to this initiative, which has become a benchmark in the world of surfing and water sports, founded by a second generation building on the original family business. Their vision and innovative spirit have led them to become Spain’s largest online surf shop, with a strong commitment to investing in technology and digital channels, creating their own brand of surfboards through which they market their designs, reaching customers from Gijón to all corners of the globe.

The jury highlighted this initiative for being a technology-based company, spin off of the University of Oviedo, which develops control solutions in the field of efficient management of energy flows, storage and self-consumption in electricity distribution electrical grids. The promoter team, committed to sustainability and efficiency, has a strong technical profile and experience in innovation and research, with a scalable business model and a high capacity for national and international expansion.

Honorable Mention: Ms. YOLANDA TRABANCO
The jury has decided to award this prize to Yolanda Trabanco, director of sales, marketing, and communications at Sidra Trabanco and director of the Casa Trabanco restaurant and Eventos Trabanco, for her tenacity and dedication to the family business as a member of the fourth generation. In her role, she has helped preserve the family legacy by embracing innovation, diversification, and new technologies to adapt to the present day without losing the essence of tradition, thereby expanding the product lineup, reaching new audiences, and opening up new markets both domestically and internationally.

Honorable Mention: SISTEMAS ESPECIALES DE METALIZACIÓN S.A.
The jury has decided to award this recognition to this company for its outstanding track record in our city’s industrial sector. Since its founding in 1956 in a workshop in Veriña with a small group of workers, it has achieved continuous and sustainable growth, and today operates 9 facilities across 3 autonomous communities and employs a workforce of more than 130 full-time, permanent staff members. A leader in the coatings and surface treatments sector, it is a company in constant evolution that has made quality, innovation, and continuous improvement its hallmarks.
Since 2005, when the first edition of these awards took place, the City Council of Gijón has been committed to holding this event annually, with the aim of fostering and stimulating the development of an entrepreneurial culture, as well as promoting positive attitudes toward entrepreneurship, by recognizing companies and entrepreneurs who have excelled in various fields, thereby rewarding and showcasing the entrepreneurial talent present in the city. Over the course of these editions, more than 100 companies and business projects have been honored, and more than 700 nominations have been received.
Once again this year, we would like to thank all the nominees for their continued support, year after year, of these now-traditional awards within the city’s business community, and to congratulate the winning companies and entrepreneurs in each category for the excellent level of representation they have achieved.
The awards ceremony will take place onDecember 21 at 7:00 p.m.at the Teatro de la Laboral in the City of Culture.
